Part 2 – brick pix! I headed off early this morning so I could go for a drive past my house before work. I was very pleased to see a couple of brickies hard at work before 8am. There were trucks & utes everywhere, so it was a bit difficult to park & get out, so I took a quick snap out the car window whilst stopped on the side of the road.
The rains hit about 3pm this arvo & stopped work. The brickies left all their trays of mortar out & the bricks on their shelves. Yes! Shelves. They’ve started the second level already! Woohoo! They haven’t gotten around the front of the house as yet – started a little on the southern corner. I can guess it’s an access issue. They need to use up some of the pallets of bricks before they have enough space to haul in their equipment to brick up the eastern side. Oh, and my electricity meter box decided to strip off it’s door again…

Hello brickies!

The brickies hard at work.

And this is the result – a second level!

Mortar gathers on the stud support beams.

POV from the study window.

Um? Was it pushed back on purpose then?

Freshly laid bricks down the southern side.

Uneven ground; water collects near the discarded bricks.

Peaking out the laundry door.

Peaking out the dining room door.

POV crouching at the northern corner of the house.

Sloppy mortar pie! LHS metal guide piece to keep the gap even.

Bricks & mortar ready to go, but interrupted by the rain.

String line, bricks & mortar outside the study window, almost conceal the BH insulation wrapping.

Gap left at the top of the bricks for the zero aligned gutter/fascia piece to be installed.

Wet & dry. That off white mortar is coming up a treat!

Northern garage & study walls fully bricked.

Excluding the eastern corner, still awaiting access.

The bricking has started on the eastern side.

Bricks above & below the plastic skirt.

Oi! What are you doing hiding in PD neighbour’s garage?

You, Mr Door, should be on your electricity meter box.

Lower half almost complete along the southern side.

Mortar joints profile changes from LHS raked to RHS flush accommodate the render.

A hole in the mortar to allow the phone line through.

Clips & mortar blobs in the space.

Close up of the cut bricks around the gas pipe.

Under stormy skies.
